New West Theatre is seeking Volunteer Ushers for our 2016/17 season!

 

Do you have a passion for the performing arts? Are you interested in learning more about the inner workings of the theatre world?

Volunteer ushers work alongside the Front of House Manager before, during and after performances on a variety of tasks that ensure patron safety, and satisfaction. During the performance, Volunteer Ushers are stationed outside the theatre, where they get to complete their tasks and then check out the performance! Duties of Volunteer Ushers are as follows:

BEFORE THE SHOW AND AT INTERMISSION

  • Greet patrons attending entertainment events
  • Direct patrons to restrooms, concession and ticket centre
  • Distribute/sell programs to patrons
  • Rip admission tickets verifying details like date, and time of event
  • Refuse admittance to undesirable persons or persons without tickets or passes
  • Help solve other customer concerns
  • Respond quickly and courteously to patrons’ needs, questions, comments, or concerns with answers and/or action
  • Sell water in the auditorium
  • Volunteer Ushers 18 and older may be requested to:
    • Sell 50/50 Tickets, and Raffle-Prize Ticket

 

DURING THE SHOW

  • Assist patrons in finding seats, and help seat latecomers if necessary
  • Maintain order and ensure adherence to safety rules
  • Guide patrons to exits or provide other instructions or assistance in case of emergency

 

AFTER THE SHOW

  • Walk through the theatre to retrieve discarded programs, water bottles and lost items
